About this project...
For the past eight years, I have been the Minister of Music for a unique inner-city church in Columbus Ohio. The United Methodist Church for All People is an intentionally cross-class, multi-racial and highly diverse church that welcomes every person exactly as they are, with the promise that God is not finished with any of us
yet. Many people in our church are marginalized, have physical or mental challenges, are low income or struggling with addictions. I have become more aware of my own addictions and brokenness. Walking with others who are so openly vulnerable and willing to be on a journey toward wholeness has humbled me and (I hope) made me a better person.

This journey has produced the songs on this CD. I have titled it "MakeOver" because I feel I have been transformed by this experience. I have learned to be more patient, forgiving and loving. I am learning to let God be the guide and the judge, and to simply be a companion with others on their journey -- a "fellow traveler" if you will.

I wrote some of these songs because it has been difficult to find worship music that actually mentions the most radical instructions of Jesus: That we love our enemies, give away our possessions to anyone who asks us, forgive one another "70 times 7" times, and care for the last, the least and the lost. In fact, I have frequently been disappointed at how much Christian music celebrates one's own forgiveness and the love of God, but rarely pushes us along the demanding path of discipleship. That path calls us to take God's love and make it visible in the world -- sacred social action along with personal piety and holiness.

Four of these songs were released on two other albums. I hope my fans will forgive the duplication, but I wanted to produce an album of all my original songs, to date.
